See how we’ll help you succeed

From your first conversation with us through the hiring process, onboarding, and beyond, we’re committed to creating a clear, enjoyable path toward realizing your career goals. The hiring process features interviews with potential peers and key stakeholders, whether online or in person. You’ll also get regular guidance and support from the hiring manager and the People & Culture team.

Our hiring process, by the way, isn’t just about hiring; it’s about building connections. Even if your journey with BU Advancement doesn’t end in a job offer, our connection doesn’t end. We value the relationships we build throughout the process and look forward to staying part of your professional network: sharing opportunities, insights, and ways to engage with BU in the future.

When you do receive and accept a job offer, we’ll welcome you into a thoughtful, industry-leading onboarding program. With introductory meetings, trainings, and campus tours, along with clear conversations about expectations and resources, we’re dedicated to setting you up for success.

“What stands out most to me about BU Advancement is our shared commitment to growth and evolution. I love that our culture is always looking forward—collectively identifying where we want to go and what we aspire to become. The culture here encourages creative problem-solving and bold thinking, which perfectly aligns with my drive to continuously improve and inspire new approaches within our team.”

As an employee, you’ll continue to receive structured, supportive guidance at every step of your career path. In addition to Individual Development Plans that you’ll create in partnership with your manager, we offer several professional development programs:

DART
DART, the Driving Advancement Readiness & Transformation Manager Training Series we developed (and originally named Development & Alumni Relations Training), won a 2025 CASE Circle of Excellence Award. DART equips managers with the skills, tools, and confidence a great leader needs. Dynamic workshops and peer learning strengthen individual skills and foster an Advancement-wide culture of success, growth, and inclusion. Topics include retaining top talent, managing change and difficult conversations, and the emotionally intelligent manager.

Mentorship Program
Our Mentorship Program pairs staff of different roles and experience levels in a structured six-month partnership that focuses on the mentee’s professional goals. Mentors share their experience, insight, and encouragement, helping mentees gain fresh perspectives, greater confidence, and the skills they’ll need as they grow.

Amplify
Amplify is a nine-week gender equity leadership development program for advancement professionals, launched in 2020 by Dartmouth’s Alexis Kanda-Olmstead and BU’s Amy Bronson, with support from CASE District I. Mentorship, community, and skill-building help its participants acquire the tools to drive equity, resilience, and systemic change across higher education. The program, now led by Kanda-Olmstead, has earned national recognition, including CASE’s Circle of Excellence Grand Gold Award. So far, more than 130 BU Advancement members have completed the program.
