Build Better Bus Stops
Share
Innovate@BU is a University-wide initiative that enables students to become drivers of innovation.

One of our partnerships has been with the Massachusetts Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) to solve community transit problems.
Three teams led by Boston University students and recent alums presented ideas to benefit seniors and the blind and low-vision community.
Engineering student Sarah Hillesheim’s entry, named Better Bus Stops,
proposes installing high-contrast, tactile talking buttons at bus and
above-ground MBTA stops.
The signs and buttons dictate the line, stop name, and travel direction.
Better Bus Stops was awarded the grand prize and Sarah received $5,000 in seed money.

The visually impaired community received a great idea.
When you’re ready to give life to your world-changing idea…
