Advanced Prosthodontic Techniques
SDM PR 820
This course is a hands on program that focuses on a variety of laboratory and simulated clinical procedures in prosthodontics. First-year students will receive demonstrations by the dental technologists and will actively participate in the laboratory procedures guided by the dental technologists. Simulated patient cases are used to demonstrate and practice prosthodontic treatment in various types of oral rehabilitation. This course would include, but not limited to: pouring of final impression, scanning of casts, fabrication of digital and conventional master models; conventional and virtual mounting of models; virtually designing custom abutments; crowns and FPDs (tooth and implant supported); RPD frameworks, digital removable complete dentures; milling and printing of provisional crowns and surgical guides; milling of definitive crowns, investing and pressing ceramic crowns; staining and glazing of crowns; photography for case communication with dental technologists, and more.
