Research: Pediatric Dentistry

Research in pediatric dentistry and related fields designed as a partial requirement for the MSD or DScD in pediatric dentistry. Students must initiate and complete a research project using the elements of scientific method, including research design, statistical analyses, accurate reporting, critical thinking, and the formulation of conclusions based upon scientific data. An in-depth didactic course on research methodology will provide students with a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts in research methodology and their applications in clinical pediatric dental research. This course will review concepts in epidemiology, biostatistics and will introduce data analyses using a statistical software which will enable students to effectively conduct and interpret scientific research. 1st -- 2nd sem.
