Academic Advising
Academic Advising
The academic advisors in the Undergraduate Programs office (ERB 107) help guide students through the academic requirements of their chosen majors and provide resources and services to assist students with issues that may affect their academic performance. In order to register each term, students are required to meet with their academic advisor, discuss their academic progress and course selection, and have their course plan for the next semester approved through the Course Sequencing Tool.
More information on the Academic Advising staff can be found on the ENG Undergraduate Programs office website.
Faculty Mentor
The faculty mentor plays a central role in guiding the student’s academic program, assisting in selecting electives, and providing guidance in all academic and professional matters. Upon entering the College of Engineering, each student is assigned a faculty mentor, with whom they will interact with several times during their first year. After that, students will meet with their faculty mentors as often as they like but no less than once per year.
Peer Mentors
The College of Engineering has several robust peer mentoring programs: EK 100 (for all first-year students), EK 200 (the sophomore mentoring program), and the TRAC Program (Transfer-Student Resources and Advising Community, for transfer students). These peer mentorship programs provide mentees with social and academic resources to help them navigate their time at BU and offer excellent leadership opportunities to the students who choose to engage as a mentor.
Wellness
Counseling services are provided through the University Service Center, Sexual Assault Response & Prevention Center, and Student Health Services. The University Chaplain, the staff of religious counselors, and the residence hall counselors are also available to students of the college for guidance and counseling.
