Alejandra Salinas is an assistant professor of mathematics education where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in mathematics content and methods. Her broad research interest is the improvement of teacher quality in mathematics. Currently, she is focused on exploring the relationship between the substantive content of professional development and student gains in mathematics. Prior to coming to Boston University, she served as a researcher and professional development provider on the P-SELL initiative in Miami-Dade County. Her scholarly work related to this initiative has been published in journals such as the Bilingual Reseach Journal and the Journal of Teacher Education. Dr. Salinas is committed to promoting equity in education and the application of quantitative methods of education research.
