Incomplete Coursework
University Policy
If for reasons acceptable to the instructor a student fails to take the final examination or to complete any other required work within a course, he or she receives the I grade. Within the time limit set by the individual school or college, the student must complete the course requirements. If the student does complete the course requirements, the I grade is replaced with the appropriate letter grade.
School of Dental Medicine Policy
A grade of Incomplete is only awarded in special circumstances such as an inability to complete course work due to illness or personal reasons beyond the student’s control. Incomplete (I) is not a final grade and cannot be recorded on a transcript. Incompletes must be resolved no later than thirty days after the close of the semester. Lack of acceptable completion of course requirements by a particular grading deadline in most cases will warrant a failing grade.
