Graduation with Honors
School of Dental Medicine Policy
Students who have excelled academically over seven semesters will receive recognition on their diplomas and will have their names listed in the commencement program. Additional students who have excelled academically over eight semesters will receive recognition on their diplomas. Summa Cum Laude will be awarded to a student who has a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above. Magna Cum Laude will be awarded to a student who has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. Cum Laude will be awarded to a student who has a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above.
Transfer students are eligible if they have no grade lower than a B on their previous dental transcript and have maintained the appropriate GPA since transferring.
Advanced standing students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or above are awarded High Honors; advanced standing students with a cumulative GPA of 3.55 to 3.69 are awarded Honors. Cumulative GPA for advanced standing students is based on three semesters of work at the school. Additional advanced standing students who have excelled academically over four semesters will receive recognition on their diplomas.
