FPI Clinical Grant
FAMILY PROCESS INSTITUTE EARLY CAREER TRAINING / CLINICAL GRANT
Background:
One grant of up to $2,000 will be awarded to an Early Career Professional to support training or the development of innovative clinical activities related to the Family Process Institute mission. Applicants may propose projects with smaller budgets. Early Career Professionals may be in varied areas of scholarship (e.g., marriage and family therapy, social work, psychology, psychiatry, nursing). All proposals will advance the Family Process Institute mission.
Family Process Institute Mission Statement: “Family Process Institute is an independent, multidisciplinary, transnational organization dedicated to the development and exchange of new theory, research, applied practice, and policy related to families and systems.”
Proposals will be due September 1, 2011. Proposals will be reviewed and scored by a Committee of the Family Process Institute comprised by three members. Proposals will be scored by November 15, 2011. Projects will have a start date of January 1, 2012 and will need to be completed by December 31, 2012.
Eligibility Requirements:
– ECPs are within 7 years of their terminal degree. For MDs and DOs, this will start at end of residency.
– Proposals
o Will include a plan for promoting ongoing and deepening training or development of clinical theory or interventions in the areas of Family Processes.
o Will include a statement of the clinical issue(s) to be addressed, a brief literature review, and a description of the training methods and learning objectives. Will include the target audience of the training and expected numbers of participants
o Must include the expected deliverables (e.g., presentations, publications, demonstrations of quality improvement).
o Are expected to explicitly address how the initiative addresses the FPI mission.
o Will be no longer than 6 pages in length.
Grant Recipient Responsibilities:
– There is a minimum expectation of a conference submission, with a general expectation of a publishable manuscript or equally relevant product (e.g., training manual). Evidence of submission or completion of conference / manuscript submissions, or training products are expected to be included in the final report (e.g., letter from editor acknowledging receipt of manuscript). Awardees who do not meet minimal expectations may be required to return the grant funding.
– An acknowledgement of funding source is expected in any presentations and/or publications resulting from the grant activities.
– All grant awardees must turn in (a) a final report that includes summary of training initiatives, (b) number of total participants, (c) statement about impact (e.g., evaluation data), and (d) a financial report of expenditures (specify allowable cost on proposal cover page).
Allowable Costs:
– Support for meeting space and food (no alcohol) to promote community participants’ involvement in training or ongoing development of clinical interventions
– Honorarium for consultants or speakers
– Publicity costs
– Costs for providing or developing web based teaching products
– Stipend for administrative assistant
