Issue Editors: Nancy Claiborne and Katharine Briar‐Lawson (University at Albany, SUNY)

Editors‐in‐Chief: Alvin Sallee (University of Houston‐Downtown), Angelo Giardino (Texas Children’s Health Plan), Robert Sanborn (CHILDREN AT RISK)

This special issue and call for papers celebrates the centennial of the US Children’s Bureau. It will feature articles on family programs and policies promoted or linked to the Children’s Bureau which advance vulnerable children and their families, their strengths and needs.

Papers are sought which delineate the role of the US Children’s Bureau and its promotion of relevant child and family policy. This includes:

•family preservation and parent engagement programs,

•innovations advancing family supports,

•Title IV‐E Partnerships’ impact on professionalizing the workforce,

•community based services for families and children including interprofessional and interagency programs, systems of care, neighborhood based services, tribal child welfare systems and mother’s employment supports,

•income supports,

•workforce or workplace development.

All papers need to address wherever possible: 1) evidence informed if not evidence based practices, 2) links to policies and programs related to the US Children’s Bureau, 3) culturally relevant issues and supports for diverse families and children.

The Journal of Family Strengths is an online only journal, and the submission and peer review process are completed entirely online. Authors are encouraged to take advantage of the online format of the Journal by including videos, interactive charts or links to online resources.

Please submit a Letter of Intent by March 1, 2012 to jfs@childrenatrisk.org, including a list of three nationally prominent authors who could respond to your submission. Abstracts are due by April 1, 2012 and the final submission deadline for papers is May 15, 2012.
