Nix, Echol Lee, Jr.

Dr. Echol Lee Nix, Jr. was born the second child in a family of four to Rev. Dr. Echol and Mrs. Annie Mae Nix in Jefferson County, Alabama. He graduated from G.W. Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama and later Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. He was licensed and ordained in the Christian ministry in college and received his Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University. His interest in theological education and teaching led him to purse the Master of Sacred Theology (S.T.M., ’00) and the Ph.D. (GRS, ’07) at Boston University. Currrently, he is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion and Activity Director of the Visionary Leadership Institute at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC. Claflin University was founded by William and Lee Claflin, who also founded Boston University.
