PIs and others wishing to use the Commons system must be registered through the Office of Sponsored Programs. Please contact Kathleen Foster or Eleanor Greene at x3-4365 or ospinfo@bu.edu to register. New users are assigned a temporary password which they must change after logging in for the first time.

• Because NIH performs a data quality check on the information associated with each new account request, the establishment of a new PI account can take as many as five business days.

PIs can use the Commons to update their personal profiles, check the status of applications or awards, prepare Just-In-Time information, and prepare an electronic version of a Type 5 (non-competing) grant progress report to NIH (eSNAP).

OSP staff can use the Commons to check the status of applications or awards, review and submit Just-In-Time information, review and submit an electronic version of a Type 5 (non-competing) grant progress report to NIH (eSNAP), and request a no-cost extension. Commons users should always logout of the system after their session. Failing to logout may cause a user's account to lock.
