Leading up to the graduation ceremony, the Leadership Institute fellows participated in Phase IV of their training integration, which included conducting a full-day faculty development workshop open to all ADEA members at the Annual Session, a plenary session where fellows were formally recognized, and an opportunity for fellows to interact with alumni of the Leadership Institute. Fellows were also congratulated by their deans and department chairs at a commencement ceremony and dinner.

The ADEA Leadership Institute is a yearlong program designed to develop individuals at academic dental institutions to become future leaders in dental and higher education.

Said Dr. Schnell, “Leadership and academic development is essential for individuals in dental education. ADEA offers many educational and leadership programming to its members, from online resources to programs through the Academy for Academic Leadership. The curriculum is broad based, which enables Fellows to broaden their professional as well as their personal development.” She continued, “The Institute is a fantastic growth opportunity and prepares the next generation for challenges in academic dentistry. I am truly grateful for the opportunity that I have been given. I look forward to renewed energy as we move forward in our Applied Strategic Plan Initiatives.”
