Digital Pedagogy in the Traditional Literature Classroom: How to Do Things with Books and Screens

Petra Dierkes-Thrun is a Lecturer in the Comparative Literature Department at Stanford University with interests in Victorian, fin-de-siècle, and modernist studies (including literature, visual arts, cinema, opera, and dance), as well as feminist and LGBTQ studies. Her talk will discuss how to develop and incorporate digital pedagogy in traditional face-to-face humanities seminars, and give specific examples of her own innovative online exercises and activities involving social media, learning collaborations with the public, and digital research and writing projects for students aimed at thoughtful and creative engagement with traditional humanities contents and methods. There will also be a Follow-Up Q&A on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM in GSU 312.
