Accommodations

The Writing Program is committed to an equitable and accessible workplace. The Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act state that employees with disabilities and those who are pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition have a right to reasonable accommodations that allow them to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of their positions. BU’s Equal Opportunity Office (EOO) manages accommodations for employees and prospective employees, and the Writing Program asks you to work with them on requests of this nature. Only the EOO can formalize an accommodation plan for an employee.

If you need an accommodation, you can submit a request through the EOO website, using the “Submit a Request” form. The EOO facilitates an interactive dialogue between the employee and their unit that maintains employee privacy while exploring possible ways to meet the employee’s need. Accommodations can be requested, approved, and implemented for either temporary or permanent conditions. Please begin the request process as early as possible to ensure there is time for both dialogue and implementation.  More information about policies and procedures related to accommodations are available here.

Please note that this policy does not apply to student requests for accommodations , including student requests in their capacity as student employees. Refer students to Disability and Access Services (DAS).
