Andrew Trlica is a Ph.D. Candidate in BU’s Department of Earth & Environment. His research focuses on landscapes defined by human impacts, and the ways human decisions connect our landscapes to the causes and consequences of climate change. Drawing from the tools and perspectives of biogeochemistry, remote sensing, and landscape ecology, his research has dealt with:
- Urban biogenic C exchange and urban forests
- Urban heat island and land cover character
- No-till agriculture and soil quality
- Mine reclamation
- Organic waste management
His work is united by the drive to deepen our understanding of how human activities affect ecosystem function, with the goal of improving the management and protection of the landscapes upon which we as a species depend.
