Cabo Verde Prime Minister José Ulisses de Pina Correia e Silva (left) visited Boston University September 29 for the Small Island States in an Uncertain Global Economy event. With opening remarks by BU President Melissa L. Gilliam, the event, held at the Metcalf Trustee Ballroom, was cohosted by the Pardee School of Global Studies and the African Studies Center. The prime minister shared insights into the challenges and opportunities facing small island states in today’s shifting global economic landscape with Nimi Wariboko (right), African Studies Center director, and attendees. Since becoming head of government in 2016, the Cabo Verde prime minister has led his island country through a period of sustained economic growth and meaningful political reform.
