A Terrier on the Moon
On March 2, BU-developed telescope LEXI landed on the moon courtesy of NASA’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 spacecraft. On a visit to the Photonics Center March 14, University President Melissa Gilliam was shown a scale model of LEXI (Lunar Environment Heliospheric X-ray Imager) by ENG Professor Brian Walsh (GRS’09,’12) (from left) and research scientists Emil Atz and Ramiz Qudsi. From its perch on the moon, LEXI has been taking global images of the interaction of the solar wind and the Earth’s magnetic field. Photo by Jackie Ricciardi
