RASTIC Ribbon-Cutting

The ribbon-cutting for Boston University’s College of Engineering Robotics & Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center (RASTIC) was held March 4. Its state-of-the-art equipment for industry-aligned training and hands-on learning allows students to expand and hone their robotics skills as well as providing a forum for tech talks, industry days, career fairs, research exchange, and networking among students, faculty, and other industry stakeholders. In RASTIC, students can design, build, and test all kinds of robots. Engineering PhD students Lorenzo Kinnicutt (ENG’25) (from left), Leah Gaeta (ENG’25), and Meliha Albayrak (ENG’26) are demonstrating a robotic hand that’s used in rehabilitation. The initial $8.8 million to create the 2000-square-foot center was  jointly funded by BU and the Massachusetts Technology (MassTech) Collaborative. Photo by Jackie Ricciardi
