LaTasha Barnes Dance Residency at BU
BU Dance and the BU Arts Initiative hosted internationally known dancer, choreographer, and educator LaTasha Barnes for a weeklong artist-in-residency March 18 to 22. Considered the tradition-bearer of Black American social dance, Barnes, here directing a March 22 hip-hop class at FitRec, shared her knowledge and research with students, the BU community, and the general public. A showcase held March 21 at the BU Dance Theater included an improvisational score on Dance Theater Group (DTG) students, choreography set by Barnes for DTG and dance minors, select video excerpts of her performances and choreography, and a Q&A session.
