Maria Molteni (CFA’06) (center) discusses her immersive work, Counting to Infinity/Sweeping Stars (Contando All’Infinito/Stelle Scopa), at the July 30 opening for Figure, Character, Sign, an exhibition celebrating more than 20 years of BU’s Venice Studio Arts program. The wall of the room is covered with a series of printed blocks, some have 8 sets of cards on them, others have a large white streak. The group sits in a circle around Molteni, who wears a black and white striped jumpsuit and white glasses. The group is a mixture of men and women of various ages who sit on the floor. At center, cards are scattered around. At left, traditional venetian brooms, which appear to be made from hay or straw, are seen.
