Photo of Raina Wu, 12, left, and Cindy Jin, 12, right, sigh with relief after their robot Marshmallow successfully performs a series of tasks after being programmed by the two along with their teammate Hailey Duan, 12, not pictured, in the U-Design Robo-Alley workshop at Photonics July 21. Jin kneels by the small gray and white robot that almost looks like it was built from legos in classroom; she is a young AAPI girl, and wears a white t-shirt, shorts, and a blue face mask. Wu, at left, smiles and claps her hands; she also sits on the ground. Wu is a young AAPI girl with long brown hair, a blue t-shirt, blue shorts, and sneakers on. Other students in the class are standing in the background, clapping.

U-Design Robo-Alley Workshop

Raina Wu (left) and Cindy Jin, both 12, sigh with relief after their robot Marshmallow successfully performs a series of programmed tasks. They and their teammate Hailey Duan, 12, (not pictured) built the bot in the U-Design Robo-Alley workshop, created by the College of Engineering and held in the BU Photonics Center. The robotics workshop and two others—Electrical & Mechanical Gizmos and Flight School—aim to give young students hands-on education in engineering and other STEM fields. Photo by Cydney Scott
