Heroes of the Storm
First—and always—the Campus Planning & Operations crews who schlep to campus when it’s closed by snow to plow, shovel, sand, and salt. Second may be two pieces of equipment: snow melter 1 (above), which melts 80 tons of snow an hour, and the smaller snow melter 2, which melts 60 tons an hour. The larger one has been operating 24/7 since late Saturday afternoon and will keep at it well into Wednesday. The snow is plowed, piled into parking lots, then trucked up to Agganis Way. The melted water then goes down storm drains. Photo by Jackie Ricciardi
