Provost Jean Morrison Honored by Alma Mater
Another notable 2022 honorary degree was bestowed May 22, but this one was not conferred by Boston University. Jean Morrison, University provost and chief academic officer, here with Brian W. Casey, Colgate University president, was honored by her alma mater Colgate on that hot and humid Sunday. “Acclaimed geologist, leader, and humanitarian, your work as an educator and researcher gives us a greater understanding of the Earth we stand upon, while also constantly seeking ways to increase access to the sciences for underrepresented populations.” At BU, “your leadership has forged a University-wide arts initiative, and established new divisions for graduate education, digital learning and innovation, and diversity and inclusion…” As a professor of earth and environment and a geologist, the “title ‘Rockstar’ would be appropriate….For your visionary leadership, exemplary scholarship, and your commitment to diversity and inclusion, Colgate University is honored to confer upon you…the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa.” Photo courtesy of Colgate University
