Photo of the cast of Mansfield Park on stage, presumably during a dress rehearsal. At center, a woman in a black dress drapes herself over a grand piano. A man sits in a fancy pink chair. At the edges of the stage, people stand with their faces away from the camera. Behind the piano, a woman in a golden dress and mask stands.

BU Opera Institute: Mansfield Park

On Friday, April 23, at 7:30 pm, the BU Opera Institute will livestream the opera Mansfield Park, directed by CFA faculty Jim Petosa, conducted by William Lumpkin, and recorded at BU’s Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre. With music by Jonathan Dove and libretto by Alasdair Middleton, the opera is based on Jane Austen’s novel about Fanny Price, whose overburdened family sends the 10-year-old to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle, and it follows her development into early adulthood.
