R.I.P. Great Scott

Allston rock club Great Scott, familiar to generations of BU and other Boston area college students, has announced that after 44 years “as one of the best live music venues in the city,” it will not reopen when the mandatory COVID-19 closing ends. Landlord Oak Hill Properties will not renew the lease, says Great Scott general manager Tim Philbin, who has worked at the club for 33 years, because “they just didn’t want to have bands play there anymore.” May 4, 2020, photo by Jackie Ricciardi
