Campus protest: The BU chapter of Young Americans for Freedom has invited conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro to speak on campus in November, and students gathered in front of the GSU Wednesday to protest the possible appearance of the controversial figure.

As long as they protest peacefully… I feel it would be better to go to the event and take advantage of the open mic opportunity at the end of all Shapiro’s talks. He always allows those who disagree with him to come to the front and ask questions that challenge his point of view. Shapiro is not an unreasonable person… if you can use facts and logic to dispel his points, he will not only listen, but show gratitude and respect for you coming forward as someone in the other side of the political spectrum.

I totally agree. I can’t understand why anyone would be afraid of Ben Shapiro …….He is not violent or hateful and he is always respectful of others whatever their opinion. Could these students be afraid to find out that he speaks the truth? It’s hard to accept that you have been misled by the media and the academia. However, it’s not the end of the world to admit you have been mistaken….
Since when did expressing your views in a civilized manner amount to “hate speech”?

Ben Shapiro is neither alt-right or a deliverer of hate speech. He is a highly intelligent, thought-provoking, factually correct, and insightful speaker who welcomes debate. While people do have the right to protest, it seems beyond silly to protest every single person that does not agree with you down to the wire. These vulnerable young people have been taken advantage of and are being led around by liberal media and liberal educational institutions that offer only half an education and are out of touch with the real world. If these students are incapable of hearing a speaker on a college campus they are woefully ill-prepared to face life. I would be furious if my own child were this narrow-minded and am very fortunate they resist the liberal indoctrination at BU. The sign they are holding up regarding Quebec is ludicrous. Ben Shapiro is in no way responsible for anothers mental illness and trying to make that association shows a level of immaturity that you would expect in students much younger and with less exposure to the world.
