After a relentlessly wet and chilly spring, the sun peeked out and the temperature hovered around 70 for BU’s 146th All-University Commencement on Sunday, May 19. An estimated crowd of 20,000 gathered on Nickerson Field to cheer on the 7,509 members of the Class of 2019. Marcia McNutt (Hon.’19), the president of the National Academy of Sciences, delivered the main address, preceded by student speaker Adia Turner (CAS’19) and the awarding of this year’s honorary degrees and the Metcalf Cup and Prize and Metcalf Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
