Scott Chase is a fourth-year doctoral student specializing in Religions of the Ancient Mediterranean.¬† He studies ancient Judaism and early Christianity, with a special concern for the intersection of religious ideas and movements with geography, the built environment and material culture. His current research¬† focuses on conceptions of the ‘New Jerusalem’ over the course of Roman antiquity. He holds a Master of Theological Studies, concentrating in Biblical Studies, from Boston University (2015), and a Master of Arts in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies from Brandeis University (2019).¬† He has participated in five seasons of excavations in Northern Israel, including three with the Hellenistic Galilee Project.
