
Scott Chase is a fourth-year doctoral student specializing in Religions of the Ancient Mediterranean. He studies ancient Judaism and early Christianity, with a special concern for the intersection of religious ideas and movements with geography, the built environment and material culture. His current research focuses on conceptions of the ‘New Jerusalem’ over the course of Roman antiquity. He holds a Master of Theological Studies, concentrating in Biblical Studies, from Boston University (2015), and a Master of Arts in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies from Brandeis University (2019). He has participated in five seasons of excavations in Northern Israel, including three with the Hellenistic Galilee Project.
