Dane is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in the religions of the ancient Mediterranean. His research centers around the material dimension of religion in the Roman empire, especially the role of the image, visuality, and touch. His dissertation explores the materiality of cult statues in the eastern Roman Empire. Dane has a BA in Classics and Religious Studies from the College of the Holy Cross.
