BU Public Safety oversees the unarmed security professionals responsible for maintaining safety and security in student residences and at the Boston University Medical Campus.
Public Safety
Public Safety Officers are a highly trained, unarmed, uniformed group of security professionals that primarily provide emergency response services and support to the Boston University community, primarily focused on the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, School of Public Health, and Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, as well as the research and parking facilities on campus. This team responds to reports of crime and emergencies and works closely with the Boston University Police and the Boston Police Department to coordinate emergency response.
Residential Safety
Residential Safety Officers provide uniformed security coverage 24-7 at the main entrances of BU’s large residential dormitories. The security professionals are responsible for monitoring access control, ensuring adherence to established residential policies and procedures, and making appropriate notifications when necessary. They are the University’s front-line representatives.
