A Halloween Message from the Boston Police Department
As Halloween approaches, students are expected to celebrate responsibly and keep the following in mind:
• Do not consume or purchase alcoholic beverages unless you are of legal age.
• Be aware of your surroundings and if possible do not walk alone at night.
• Keep all electronic devices out of sight. Do not walk/talk/text – especially late at night.
• Be sure clothing/costumes are bright, reflective and flame retardant.
• Purchase costumes that are light and bright enough to be clearly visible to motorists.
• For greater visibility during dusk and darkness, decorate or trim costumes with reflective tape that will glow in a car’s headlights. To easily see and be seen, you should also carry flashlights.
• Do not cross the street from between parked cars
• Apply a natural mask of cosmetics rather than wearing a loose-fitting mask that might restrict breathing or obscure vision. If a mask is used, however, make sure it fits securely and has eyeholes large enough to allow full vision.
• Do not carry toy guns or items others may think could be weapons.
• If you see something, say something! Call for help if a situation seems questionable or if someone’s safety is at risk. By taking action you might prevent a crime from being committed. Call Boston Police at 911 from a landline or 617-343-4911 from your cell phone.
• Keep noise to a minimum including music and large gatherings both in your residences and out on the street. Be a respectful neighbor!
Extra patrols will be out in all Boston neighborhoods to ensure the safety of all.
