The Event Ends with a BUPD’s First Hosted Dodgeball Tournament
Boston, Mass.—Oct. 22, 2018 – Boston University Police Department, the unit responsible for keeping Boston University’s campus safe , announces their annual BUPD Police Week 2018 event from Oct. 22 to Oct. 24 at the George Sherman Union to remind students of on-campus safety issues, the resources and services BUPD offers to address them. The three-day event will end with a dodgeball tournament (Dodge-A-Cop) at the Fitness and Recreation Center with the participation of Greek life students and police officers teaming up and facing each other. Dodge-A-Cop is an opportunity for BUPD to address Halloween safety to Greek life students in an new engaging way.
Apart from disseminating information about on-campus safety, BUPD Police Week is an event where officers offer free coffee, candy, and merchandise to BU students. BUPD also brings in police dogs and makes RAD program demonstrations (self-defense program for women). As one of BUPD’s biggest community outreach events, raising awareness of all safety issues on campus in an attractive way is crucial, especially emerging safety issues such as check scams.
