Scam/Fraud Alert
Current reports have the suspect asking the victim’s help, usually to fix a broken car or get it out of a tow impound. Typically, the suspect is well dressed and will tell the victim he has no cash, one scenario the suspect will ask for money, in another, the suspect will tell the victim he will write a check to cover the victim’s cost. The check is either a forgery or from a closed account. They prefer using ATM’s because of the time it takes to discover the check is bad. We also have received reports of a female party selling magazine subscriptions inside BUĀ buildings. In this scam the suspect approaches the victim selling magazine subscriptions, the may add that the proceeds are for a charity. The subscription will typically be very cheap. In this case the subscription service is fake and the suspect takes the money. The depicted suspect have been involved these types of scams in the past.
