Mission and Goals

Boston University’s Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency is committed to advancing the education and training of licensed physical therapists in the area of orthopaedic physical therapy.  The residency will provide the student with advanced skills that promote critical, innovative, and evidence-based thinking while emphasizing empathetic care within the biopsychosocial model.  The residency strives to improve upon the residents’ ability to be a reflective, resourceful practitioner while encouraging life-long learning and leadership in clinical practice, teaching, research, and community service.  With strong support from the Boston University Department of Physical Therapy the BU Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency continually updates its curriculum to consistently meet the needs of the resident in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
