Can I Work Full-Time and Pursue an Online Degree?
Yes! Balancing full-time work with an online degree is absolutely possible, and almost all (95%+) of our students are working full-time alongside their studies. With that in mind, programs have been designed to meet our students’ needs and busy lives. Keep reading to understand how Boston University’s online programs allow students to balance work and school responsibilities.
What Will the Time Commitment Look Like?
Time commitments will vary slightly depending on your degree program. For example, the Questrom Online MBA requires 45 unit hours of coursework. To complete the program, you will work through six modules, as well as a zero-unit introduction module. Each module (excluding module 0) is 7.5 units, and students are enrolled in one module per term. On average, MBA students spend 15–20 hours per week completing coursework, which includes live Zoom sessions, asynchronous learning on their own time, team meetings, and office hours with a Learning Facilitator.
In BU’s Public Health program you’ll work to complete a 42-credit program. That program is designed to take roughly 24 months to complete, but students have up to five years to complete the program.
Hear from Graduates of BU’s Program
For Public Health program graduate Mikayla Hyman, the flexibility of the program made all the difference.
“The weekly schedule breaks the work into manageable chunks which keeps me on track without feeling overwhelmed. With a full-time job and family, the flexibility to handle classwork when it fits my life has been a game changer,” says Hyman.
Melanie and Kaitlyn, graduates of BU’s Online MBA program, say they also managed a work-life balance with BU’s program.
