Kenny Kim is a M.D./Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering. During his undergraduate studies at Washington University, Kenny developed novel brain-computer interface algorithms to extract spatial attention information from cerebral electrophysiological recordings. He came to Boston University to continue his interest in developing new methods of measuring brain function. With Dr. David Boas and Xiaojun Cheng, Kenny is developing speckle contrast optical spectroscopy (SCOS), a non-invasive, optical method to measure cerebral blood flow in humans. His expected graduation date is Spring 2027 (including M.D. curriculum), after which he aspires to implement SCOS in various clinical applications such as cerebral blood flow monitoring in neurocritical care units, as well as apply the technology for new brain-computer interfaces.
