Atiyeh Taheri is a PhD candidate in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Boston University. Her research focuses on the biomechanics of human cerebral arteries, incorporating mechanical experiments, imaging and image processing, and constitutive modeling. Her work integrates biaxial tension experimental data and quantified multiphoton images into a structural model to predict the mechanical properties and behavior of human cerebral arteries with different ages and diseases.

She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. Her master’s thesis focused on the design and additive manufacturing of cellular structures for total knee replacement. Her research in this area has led to a publication in the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences (DOI: 10.1016/j.ijmecsci.2023.108772), with a second related paper currently under review in the Annals of Biomedical Engineering journal. Additionally, she has contributed a book chapter, Functionally Graded Cellular Structures for Biomaterials in Orthopedics, which has been revised and will be published soon. Her research interests include biomechanics, imaging and image processing, computational modeling, and rehabilitation.
