Hadi T. Nia and Team Publish Back-to-Back Articles

Hadi T. Nia, Junior Faculty member at the Neurophotonics and Photonics Centers, announced today that his team had two articles published back-to-back in ScienceDirect.

The first article, “Multiscale elasticity mapping of biological samples in 3D at optical resolution”, published by Kathryn Regas et. al, presents a new platform: “µElastography,” a “scalable elastography system that maps the elastic properties of tissues from cellular to organ scales.” According to the lab, this platform is “implementable in any lab,” which will reduce the need for certain specialized equipment. This platform therefore will increase labs’ measurement capabilities “across the large community of biological sciences.”

In the second article, “Emergence of nanoscale viscoelasticity from single cancer cells to established tumors”, Muhamed Hadzipasic et al. use Wide-bandwidth AFM-based ViscoElastic Spectroscopy (WAVES) to “probe the origins of tumor viscoelasticity.” Their research holds potential for deeper understanding of tumor pathophysiology and treatment strategies.”
