BUnano Announces Call for Faculty Pilot Grants

BUnano supports all facets of nanotechnology and encourages industrial applications and translational activities by awarding research grants to BU faculty teams to seed innovative and exciting new projects that use nanotechnology to address major problems related to health, energy, materials and the environment.

The goal of BUnano funded pilot grant program is to identify teams involving at least two faculty from the CRC and/or Medical campus to develop proposals focused on Nanotechnology, Nanobiotechnology, Nanofabrication, etc. These proposals will become the foci for multi-PI or center NIH, NSF, DOD, and DOE proposals submitted in 2017.

Funding: $10,000 -20,000 per project.

Pilot Grant Application Deadline is December 19, 2016 at 8 pm.
For application form and guidelines, please contact Mariam Stepanyan, mariamps@bu.edu.

Pilot Grant Award Announcement is January 2017.

In 2015, BUnano announced a pilot proposal program to facilitate collaborations between clinicians, engineers, and scientists from both CRC and BUSM campuses. Ten proposals, total grants amounting to $101,000, were awarded to seed competitive proposals for future grant applications. Every proposal had at least one clinician and one engineer / scientist.  This initiative was in part supported by the BU School of Engineering.
