At BU, there are two methods of connecting to wireless internet depending on your needs and affiliation:

  • eduroam: This wireless network connection is available to all BU staff, faculty and students. It is also available for guests whose institutions participate in the eduroam wireless network.
  • BU Guest: An unencrypted network for guests to use when visiting BU campuses.

Support Policy

MET IT is responsible for the following:

  • Assisting users with connecting to the wireless network
  • Troubleshooting wireless network connection issues
Long-Term Guest Access

If you are visiting BU for an extended period and need access to the eduroam network for security, a member from the MET department you are being sponsored by may request an Affiliate account for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

May I use a personal hotspot instead of BU Guest to connect to the internet?

No; personal hotspots are currently prohibited on BU campus as they interfere with network traffic.
