Virtual Lab Saving Method – Google Drive
All current and incoming students are provided with a free BU Google Apps Account, which includes storage for Gmail and Google Drive.
Saving to Google Drive
- Double click the Google Drive shortcut on the Virtual Lab desktop.
- Enter your BU email address when prompted. You will be redirected to the BU login screen.
- Log in with your BU credentials.
- Drag and drop the file from the Virtual Lab desktop into the Google Drive browser window; a notification will appear when the transfer completes.
The file is now saved to your Google Drive account. You can access and download this file from any device that has a web browser with internet access, or access to the Google Drive application.
Downloading from Google Drive
If you wish to download your files to a Windows or Mac machine from Google Drive:
- Open a web browser, go to https://drive.google.com/ and click Sign In.
- Enter your BU email address when prompted. You will be redirected to the BU login screen.
- Log in with your BU credentials.
- Navigate to the file you wish to download, right click the file and select Download.
- Once you click download, your browser will either:
- Begin downloading the file immediately. This download will be stored in your default “Download” directory on your machine.
- Windows Machines: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\Download
- Mac Machines: Go to the “Downloads” folder through the Finder application
- Prompt you to save the file to a location of your choosing on your machine.
