Ines Garcia de la Puente, Senior Lecturer

Ines Garcia de la Puente specializes in the East Slavic Middle Ages and Translation Studies. As a medievalist, she has examined various aspects of the history and culture of Rus’ (early Ukraine, Belarus and Russia), including trade routes, the role of women in the ruling elite, and existence of camels in pre-Mongol Kiev.

Sunil Sharma, Professor of Persianate & Comparative Literature

Sunil Sharma’s areas of expertise are premodern Persian and South Asian literatures. His research interests include poetry and court cultures, history of the book, and travel writing.

Sassan Tabatabai, Master Lecturer in World Languages & Literatures and Core Curriculum, Coordinator of Persian Language Program

Sassan Tabatabai is a poet, translator, editor, and scholar of medieval Persian literature. He teaches all levels of Persian language and literature and all four humanities and both social science courses in the Core Curriculum.

Dennis Wuerthner, Assistant Professor of East Asian Literatures, Convener of Korean

Dennis Wuerthner is currently serving as Assistant Professor of East Asian Literature at the Department of World Languages & Literatures of Boston University. His main field of research and teaching is premodern and contemporary Korean literature, history and culture in a broader East Asian context.
