Jonathan Sliva
Assistant Director, Trademark Licensing and Sponsorships
As the Assistant Director, Trademark Licensing & Sponsorships at Boston University, Jonathan is instrumental in protecting university trademarks on products, enhancing trademark royalty revenues, and supporting comprehensive university sponsorship efforts. He expertly manages the licensing approval process, ensures adherence to Trademark Licensing policies and procedures, and collaborates closely with multiple departments and external partners such as Barnes & Noble/LidsU, Marketing & Communications, Athletics, and the Student Activities Office. His efforts are pivotal in expanding retail opportunities both domestically and internationally, focusing on marketing, student engagement, and special projects.
Prior to his current role, Jonathan significantly contributed to the University of Massachusetts Trademark & Licensing Administration as the Associate Director of the UMass Trademark & Licensing Administration. He was responsible for generating incremental licensing revenue while strengthening and protecting the brand reputation across the university system. Jonathan also served as a primary communications liaison between the University System and the Fair Labor Association, Workers Rights Consortium, and Sumerra to ensure ethical production practices in collegiate branded merchandise.
Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University and a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law. He actively serves on the Board of Directors of the Fair Labor Association, as well as serving as a member of the FLA Manufacturing Committee and University Best Practices Working Group, advocating for human rights and ethical practices across university-affiliated supply chains.
