Computing & Data Science + Journalism

The Justice Media Computational Journalism co-Lab at Boston University is training a new generation of computational, investigative journalists and news technologists who are equipped to leverage the power of computing and data sciences to advance justice and transparency. With guidance from faculty in Journalism and Data & Computing Sciences, students in the course and paid summer internship program use the latest computational tools combined with robust field reporting to produce data-driven, investigative news stories for local, regional and national news organizations.

The Justice Media co-lab was founded in 2020 and launched in January 2021. The co-Lab, offered as a course in the spring and fall, is a collaboration among Boston University's College of Communication, the Faculty of Data & Computing Sciences, Spark!, and the BU HUB Cross-College challenge.
