Sevgim Çisel Çelik Keskin

portraits_Page_03Ms. Sevgim Çisel Çelik Keskin currently serves as senior auditor for Turkiye Vakiflar Bankasi TAO (Vakifbank), the seventh-largest bank in Turkey with over 900 branches throughout the country, three international branches located in New York, Bahrain, and Arbil, and subsidiary operations with VakifBank International AG, which has branches in Vienna, Cologne and Frankfurt. Ms. Çelik Keskin inspects, tracks, and reports on how well the Bank’s operations comply with its principles, laws, and regulations. She annually audits the Bank’s head office, its branches nationwide, and its many subsidiaries. As one of the fifteen senior auditors on a board of nearly 200 auditors, she further serves as a mentor and supervisor to her colleagues.

Ms. Çelik Keskin holds a B.S. in Political Science and Public Administration from Middle East Technical University in Ankara and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Anadolu University in Eskişehir, the largest university in Europe. In 2016, she completed an Associate’s Degree in Jurisprudence and Law from Anadolu University.

During her Humphrey Fellowship year, Ms. Çelik Keskin intends to undertake advanced studies of proactive auditing systems and regulations. She also plans to study accountability, development, and sustainability of the banking sector in the U.S., with a particular focus on how banks are working to achieve the Women’s Empowerment Principles designated by the United Nations in 2010. Upon her return to Turkey, Ms. Çelik Keskin plans to support women’s economic and professional empowerment, with a particular focus on increasing the number of women in managerial and executive positions in the banking sector.
