Juan Rivera

Juan Rivera has worked in education for fourteen years both as an instructor and administrator. He taught English at elementary schools, vocational schools, and universities in Panama and Spanish at Smithfield Middle School in Virginia as part of the Visiting International Faculty Program from 2004 to 2007. Currently, he is the Admissions and Language Center coordinator at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, Azuero Campus, where he also teaches English.

Juan earned a Bachelor’s degree in humanities with a concentration in English, a degree in secondary education, a postgraduate degree, and a Master’s degree in virtual learning environments, all from the Universidad de Panamá. He also earned a postgraduate degree and a Master’s in TESOL from the Universidad Latina de Panamá and a postgraduate degree in higher education from Columbus University. Throughout his Humphrey year, Juan plans to increase his professional skills by focusing on the implementation of technological resources, especially e-learning, to improve the effectiveness of ESL/EFL teaching and learning.
