Robert Stennett
Mr. Robert Stennett has been the head of the International Economics Department at the Jamaican Central Bank since 2005. He is responsible for preparing forecasts of international economic variables and the Jamaican balance of payments. He is also a key member of the Jamaican team that interfaces with multilateral institutions. Before joining the Central Bank, Mr. Stennett taught economics and statistics at the University of Technology, where he continues to serve as a part-time lecturer.
Mr. Stennett earned his bachelor’s degree (1989) and master’s degree (1995) in economics from the University of the West Indies. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in information technology (2007) from the Mona Institute of Applied Sciences (Jamaica). Mr. Stennett has had training in advanced econometrics (Swiss National Bank), financial programming (IMF), and macroeconomic modelling (Bank of Canada). He has co-authored a book on the first 40 years of the Central Bank, participated as a member of Jamaica’s Trade Delegation Team at the WTO, and served as Alternate Governor on the CEMLA (Center for Latin American Monetary Studies) Board.
During his Humphrey year, Mr. Stennett intends to enhance his knowledge of and experience with the practices and institutions of international financial and commodity markets.
