Faisal Mazhar

Muhammad Faisal Mazhar is Deputy Director, Payment Systems Department at the State Bank of Pakistan. His responsibilities include overseeing high-value payments, developing policies to ensure smooth functioning of the system, and identifying areas where financial market infrastructure could be integrated with the high-value payment system.

Faisal holds a Master’s of Business Administration from SZABIST, Karachi, and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from National University–FAST, Lahore.

During his Humphrey Fellowship, Faisal will study Banking Law, Information Security, and Digital Forensics. He plans to build his understanding of the regulatory framework in developed countries that determines banking operations and how oversight/supervision is performed for the financial market infrastructures that support these operations. He also intends to explore the regulatory measures required to facilitate financial inclusion by leveraging technology to provide financial services to the unbanked population of Pakistan.
