Financial Aid and Student Accounts (Fall 2024)
As we navigate through the implementation of FAFSA Simplification and Boston University’s new student information system, we are writing to provide an update on the delays in awarding financial aid for the Fall 2024 semester. Your fall bill may not include scholarship or aid awards when it is first posted in MyBU Student; generally, and in future semesters, your charges and financial aid should post around the same time.
Fall bills and financial aid will be updated by early August. Student Accounting Services is aware of these delays and is adjusting late payment fees as needed.
Below are some frequently asked questions about the delay. Please direct specific questions to your graduate financial aid office.
General Information
When will I be able to see my financial aid information in the MyBU Student Portal?
Some scholarships are posted, and we are continuing to work on posting remaining financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans, etc.) for the 2024-2025 academic year through July and August. We appreciate your patience while we continue to navigate challenges with the Department of Education’s FAFSA Simplification Act and changes in the new MyBU Student Information System.
When is payment due for the Fall 2024 semester?
Will I receive a late fee if my financial aid is not posted by my deadline?
Student Accounting Services is aware of these extenuating circumstances and will delay/waive late fees accordingly for eligible financial aid recipients.
How do I update or waive the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
Visit the ‘Student Health Insurance’ section in the MyBU Student portal for options to waive, change plans, or purchase SHIP for students not automatically charged. For students for whom SHIP is required, you may only waive the plan provided you have other coverage that meets the comparable coverage requirements. For more information, see the Student Accounting Services Student Health Insurance page.
I believe one or more of the charges on my bill may be incorrect. What should I do?
Tuition and fee charges are based on your enrollment. If a change is made to your enrollment, you should expect any resulting adjustments to post to your student account within one to two business days.
There is an issue impacting some graduate and professional students that relates to your academic load (full-time/ part-time status). We are aware of this issue and are working on making updates to charges where appropriate.
If you have any other questions about your bill, please reach out to Student Accounting Services.

For medical, dental, and physician assistant students whose fall semesters have begun or will begin before September, you may be eligible for an advance of your requested loan funding. Student Financial Services (SFS) on the Boston University Medical Campus has emailed eligible populations and will continue to be in contact through July and August.
